DO YOU NEED TO BE CATHOLIC TO ATTEND A CATHOLIC SCHOOL?
No, your child does not need to be Catholic to enrol at a Catholic school. While preference is given to students of the Catholic faith, particularly if you are active in your parish, our schools welcome families from all backgrounds or faith traditions who share in our mission and purpose.
Catholic Schools Broken Bay will offer K-12 enrolment during 2021. This will provide you with some surety around enrolment in our systemic secondary colleges for your child. As the option becomes available, you will only need to provide one enrolment form in primary school and complete a simple updated form to ensure your child’s continued enrolment in one of our systemic secondary colleges.
Enrol at St Bernard’s Primary School Berowra for 2021 and beyond
As one of the best primary schools in Berowra and surrounds, enrolling at St Bernard’s Catholic Primary School is an excellent choice for local families.
Your child will achieve high academic success here, completed by robust spiritual, social, physical and emotional programs. Our graduates are collaborative, critical thinkers who seek challenge to reach their best. They are nurtured by a warm community of families who live out our values together.
We welcome students of all backgrounds, cultures and religions to join our school family. Children enrolled in our school do not need to be of the Catholic faith and will be embraced by our Catholic values.

How to enrol
You are welcome to apply to enrol at any time throughout the year. Application for St Bernard’s is a straightforward process that begins by completing this form and providing the following:
- Birth certificate
- Immunisation record
- $66 application fee
If you are seeking to enrol a child who is a temporary or permanent visa holder, the following will also need to be provided:
- Visa documentation
- Child’s passport
- Parent’s passports
We will then contact you to book a private tour of the school and meet our principal, Gill Austin.
A non-refundable confirmation fee of $60 will be required upon acceptance of an offer. Payment can be made by cash, EFTPOS or cheques at the school office. Cheques must be made payable to “St Bernard’s Primary School” and attached to your enrolment form.
You will only receive one enrolment offer from one Catholic school to maintain fairness for all families in our area.
New Kindergarten enrolments are welcome throughout the year. For Kindergarten enrolments, children must be aged 5 prior to July 31 of that year, as per NSW Education Standards Authority guidelines.
Families wanting to enrol in Kindergarten will be invited to meet the principal in May or June and can enjoy a tour of our school to get a feel for all that we have to offer your child.

We are committed to making Catholic education accessible for your child, regardless of your financial circumstance and we aim to keep our fees as low as possible.
We will never exclude a Catholic student from attending our school because of financial hardship. If you would like to organise a payment plan to make it easier to manage your school fees, please contact the Fee Liaison Unit at the Catholic Schools Office firstname.lastname@example.org or email the school.
COVID-19 Fee Relief
Catholic Schools Broken Bay are committed to supporting families as the impact of COVID-19 continues to be felt in the community. No family will be excluded from our school because of financial difficulties.
Even if you have not enrolled yet, we would like to offer the following help with school fees if you need it:
- A full reduction on ALL fees if your family receives JobSeeker.
- A 50%+ reduction on ALL fees if one parent in your family receives JobKeeper.
